Introducing the Sinha Foundation Physics Channel
Some people unwind with Sudoku. Some play golf. I enjoy physics problems.
My love for it started in high school, preparing for the IIT JEE. Most people remember that period as a grind, and it was. What I remember is the specific moment, over and over, when a problem stopped being a procedure to execute and became obvious. You look at it, and you can see why the answer had to be what it is. That feeling never got old.
Then life happened. Engineering, semiconductors, networks, security, four companies, a couple of decades. The physics sat in a drawer.
What opened the drawer again was my kids. They went off to college, and every so often one of them would call with a problem set. I would start explaining, and twenty minutes later I would still be at the whiteboard, well past the point where anyone was still listening, thoroughly enjoying myself. It turned out I had not lost any of it. I had just stopped making time for it.
So I decided to make time for it.
What it is
Sinha Foundation Physics is undergraduate physics, taught properly. Rich animations, full derivations, and worked problems from first principles, built for students who want the real thing. No hand-waving.
The series begins with a complete classical mechanics course: statics, Newton’s laws, oscillations, energy and momentum conservation, central forces and orbits, rigid-body rotation, non-inertial frames, and special and general relativity. Every lecture builds from concept to fully solved problems, with limiting-case checks and a clear takeaway. Difficulty runs from honors to olympiad level.
Over time the channel will grow into a full undergraduate physics curriculum: electromagnetism, waves and optics, thermal and statistical physics, quantum mechanics, and the mathematical methods that tie them together.
Why I am doing it
Because I love learning, and the natural thing to do with something you love is share it.
Because there is a specific expression a student makes when a beautiful idea finally lands, and getting to see it is one of the better things available in this life.
And because none of this should cost anything. Every lecture is free, for anyone, anywhere, forever. A student in a town with no physics teacher should have the same shot at a real physics education as a student at MIT.
